Getting starting with Greenspector Studio is really simple. This part will quickly introduce the possibilities of the Greenspector tools, using a simple example.

Greenspector Studio allows to measure performance, energy and data consumption on different targets, with different type of tests. It also provides an environmental impact assessment based on measurements and our impact model.

To follow this guide, please make sure Greenspector Studio is already installed and configured. All needed information are in Prerequisites & Installation section.

Targets

Measurements are available:

  • For a mobile application, with:

    • The .apk file that you can create in your development environment or find in a public repository as APKMirror for Android

    • Or the .ipa file that you can create in your development environment for iOS

    • Or an application already installed on your device

  • For a web application or a website with the URL

Type of test

Two types of test can be performed:

  • Benchmark: with a .apk file or an URL, this automated test allows to measure quickly without writing any code. At the end, a global score is provided. It’s a first step to discover Greenspector interface.

A benchmark is automatically launched on the Greenspector Testbench.

  • Functional journey analysis : with an application installed on a device or a website, a test can be written to automate a user journey and to analyse it step by step with accuracy. It’s the most common way to use Greenspector Studio.
